image in portrait orientation |

Hi FF team,
I have many many images as stimuli, some of which are in landscape, others in portrait orientation. Those in landscape present ok, but those in portrait are halfway cutoff. When i try to have image "width": "50%" that makes lanscape images fill half the screen ok, but portrait images now stretch from the top to the bottom of the screen. In effect this means all my lanscape images are kind of small and all the portrait ones are what would be perceived as "full size" even though they are technically 50% smaller than without the width specification. Is there any way i can address this without having to manually go through all my images and find which ones are portrait and which landscape?
Many thanks,
bissera

Looks like there is some sort of problem on the Studies page of the website today. My list of studies won't load and after a few seconds I get the popup: "DataTables warning: table id=all-experiments - Ajax error. For more information about this error, please see http://datatables.net/tn/7". Same result in all browsers I've tried.

trial limit |

Hi FF team,
I'm getting an error that my blocks are exceeding the number of trials allowed. The message says i have 329 trials when only 150 are allowed, but i'm not sure how this is calculated, because i thought i had only 36 trials per block...? I assume this has to do with the following piece of code, as 36 trials times 9 trial templates per trial is 324 (and then some additional cover and end trials i guess). The reason why i have so many "BS" templates is because when i was using durations of stimuli vs trials to get a blank screen this was messing with the trials proceeding properly and so adding a blank screen in between instead worked much better.
Code: "BL1": {
"trial_templates": ["BS","Vprime1","BS", "prime1","BS", "Vtarget1","BS", "target1", "catch"],
"pattern": {"order": "alternate_random"},
"fetching_point": true,
"cover_trials": ["fixation"],
"end_trials": ["break"]
},
The issue is this means i'll have to more than half the amount of actual trials i have per block, which i really would rather not do and so i was wondering if this trial limit is something that can potentially be increased?
Thanks,
bissera

csv stimulus definitions |

Hi FF team,
I'm trying to upload the stimulus definitions for my study with a csv batch upload, but i've been waiting for more than 20 minutes and it still hasn't uploaded. I tried using a different browser - same thing. I checked the crash course and couldn't find any limitations i should be respecting (like with the zip stimuli batch upload for example). Any idea what the problem might be?
Best,
bissera
Hi FF team,
I've now isolated the issue to a few rows with very texty stimuli definitions (i've managed to upload everything else). I've tried using the exact same csv file that i downloaded from the builder (i always do that in case of an error) and it doesn't want to re-upload. Any ideas?
Best,
bissera

Multiple participant group selection window |

Hello, Our program uses 4 participant groups. Previously when we ran the preview option we would be asked to select which group (A through D) we would like to select. Currently, when running the preview option, a blank tab/screen appears. One would have to click on the prior tab to see the group selection option. This may be very minor but it could be helpful if the group selection window would be the active screen when the preview button is pressed so that one does not miss it. Thanks!

multi_select functionality + follow_up_response not working |

Hi,
I tried using the multi_select functionality in choice response type and also include the "other" option, with the possibility for participants to type in their own answer. When used separately, both functions work fine but they don't seem to work together. The follow_up_response thing no longer appears. Could you please help me on that?
Thank you for your help!
Best,
Stella

carryover responses used more than once elicit errors |

Hi,
I have another issue regarding the carryover response functionality. I would like to use one carryover response as the next stimulus more than once because I want my participants to evaluate their response on more than one question. But I seem to run into errors when I do that. Could you please look into it?
Quote: "eval_absurd_1": {
"type": "basic",
"stimuli": [
{"which": ["1a", "%r:TestingBlockA|main_absurd_1|text_response",
"q_absurd"], "location": [2,5,8]}
],
"stimulus_pattern": {"order": "random"},
"responses": ["a"]
},
"eval_annoying_1": {
"type": "basic",
"stimuli": [
{"which": ["1a", "%r:TestingBlockA|main_absurd_1|text_response",
"q_annoyed"], "location": [2,5,8]}
],
"stimulus_pattern": {"order": "random"},
"responses": ["a"]
}
Thank you in advance!
Best,

displaying one specific space as masked in self-paced reading? |

Hi!
I'm designing a self-paced reading experiment (tokenized text, masked, forward_mask: true). For one word 'he' I would like to have the mask be 3 characters (xxx) instead of two, to make 'he' indistinguishable from 'she' when they are masked. Is there a way to do this while keeping the general shape of the words/sentence visible (so not masking all spaces)?
Thanks!

Syntax for using carryover response as response target |

I was looking for guidance on what the syntax would be for utilizing the carryover response (collected in a naming trial) as the target response value in a testing trial. Each testing trial has 4 images and the "correct" target choice is the item corresponding to what they hear (audio stim) currently using the syntax from the documentation in the carryover response with involves the %s.
Thank you and let me know if you need more context.
