Uploading responses from csv: Difficulty with key mapping |

Hello,
we are a group of students using Anna's account to ask for advice on how to upload responses more efficiently. We are currently learning how to use FindingFive.
We are working on a self-paced reading task with many different responses for presenting individual questions. We upload the questions from a csv file.
The difficulty arises with the key mapping specification. In the csv file, we specified the choices and key mapping like this:
choices; key_mapping
YES, NO; ["C", "M"]
In the uploaded response, it looked like this:
"type": "choice",
"choices": ["YES","NO"],
"key_mapping":["C","M"], ...
which we think should be fine. However, we got an error message saying that the numbers of choices and keys don't match. When we opened the stimuli and clicked on "save" without changes, the experiment ran without error messages.
It does not seem to be a straightforward formatting issue, since we could solve it simply by opening the responses, clicking "save" for each one without any changes, and running the experiment again. However, it is of course a bit cumbersome to do it this way.
Would you have any advice on how to avoid this error in uploading in the future? Is something about the format of our csv file not quite right? Could it be something about the settings on our computers that we need to change? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your help.

I am trying to run a lexical decision task. Is it possible to present the prime stimulus followed by the target word without requiring the continue button between? I tried setting the trial duration (removed the continue button) however, the trial then timed out without requiring an answer to the lexical decision.

"Entering" lines of text |

Hi All,
I have tried several ways of separating lines of text into different rows, so it doesn't appear as a single paragraph. I have not been successful with the exception of a work around that involves adding another stimuli with a blank, I assume there is an easier way to do this.
Thank you!

Dear FindingFive,
I have a question regarding the server difference between the EU and the US. I have set up a study using the EU server but would like to run experiments with people potentially based in the US. Will there be any glitches if I do this?
Thanks!
Best,
Hyewon

Is there any way to send gifts to other researchers? |

Hi everyone,
I hope everyone is well! I have a question. Is there a way to send researchers gifts as dollars? In my research team, we received some funding. However, we use my account to set up experiments. In order to pay invoices from my account, we are looking for a way to transfer money from my professor's FindingFive account to my account. Is it possible?
Thank you so much!
Best,
Yilmaz Dogukan Ozlu

Participants and Researchers may encounter sign up difficulties on May 25, 2022. The issue has been fixed as of 11:30AM US Eastern Time on May 25, 2022. Problematic accounts created during the issue should now work normally. New signups going forward will work normally.

Hello,
I am trying to launch a session for a study on the EU server. I can progress through all popup screens, however, the last one ("Final Step: Schedule your session") does not proceed when I click on "Next". This has not happened before, so it is quite strange - do you have any recommendations for what could be the matter and how I could fix this?
Thank you very much, and best, Anna

background audio not recording fully |

Hi FF team,
I have a study in which i present pictures for 5 seconds and people have to say a sentence while i'm recording the background audio. When i listen to the recordings they are cut off - i can hear only half of my sentence, and i'm certain i finished speaking before the picture disappeared. I then tested by counting out loud until 5 so that 5 would come just around the end of picture presentation, and indeed the recordings only last until four or sometimes even three. I tried on chrome (i was using firefox before) and the same rhythm of counting this time had the picture disappear already at four (so this is also unexpected in itself, although i know you recommend chrome and so request participants use that) and then the recording has me counting until three.
I've already set up the background audio to last +1s to stimuli from group1 (that is the pictures)* and it still doesn't do it. Any advice? We definitely need the entirety of whatever was said during picture presentation recorded. In case you wanted to have a look at the study i've made a copy and titled it "study with audio not recording as long as specified".
Best,
bissera
* i've only done it for one of my blocks, to test, the practice block, which only has a few trials.

image in portrait orientation |

Hi FF team,
I have many many images as stimuli, some of which are in landscape, others in portrait orientation. Those in landscape present ok, but those in portrait are halfway cutoff. When i try to have image "width": "50%" that makes lanscape images fill half the screen ok, but portrait images now stretch from the top to the bottom of the screen. In effect this means all my lanscape images are kind of small and all the portrait ones are what would be perceived as "full size" even though they are technically 50% smaller than without the width specification. Is there any way i can address this without having to manually go through all my images and find which ones are portrait and which landscape?
Many thanks,
bissera
