Hi,

Is there a way to adjust the volume of the feedback_audio? For now as the default setting, the buzz sound is too loud. Don't want to scare away my participants. Related to this question, is there a way to show the correct and incorrect in a more obvious way? For example, print a big red "Correct" or "Incorrect" on the page.
Thank you!

Best,
Zoe

  new session
Posted by: [email protected] - 11-12-2020, 12:27 PM - Forum: Study Grammar & Management - Replies (1)

Hi,
After creating a new session, can I still change the stimuli, code, responses etc of the study? Will those changes automatically be updated and linked to the original session URL? Also, is it possible to change the session setting too after launching it?

Thank you Smile

Mouse_reset hover to advance without button
Posted by: jwright8 - 11-09-2020, 08:30 PM - Forum: Experimental Design - Replies (1)

In my study I want to do mouse tracking and I want participants to return to the middle after their choice. However, the additional clicking of the button in the middle is too much of a disruption. I would like for them to return to the middle and hover their mouse over a bullseye and after short time it will advance to the next trial, without them having to click on a button. Is this currently possible? If not, could it become possible in the near future?

  Interface

Is it possible to change the size of the coding window? I want to be able to restrict the size of the coding window to completely fit in the current screen. I don't want to have to scroll down in my browser window to see all of my code. If this is not currently possible, then I'd like to recommend that be considered as a future possibility. Thank you.

  New background audio function
Posted by: [email protected] - 11-03-2020, 10:09 PM - Forum: Study Grammar & Management - Replies (2)

I got an email from FindingFive announcing a new background audio function ideal for Picture Naming tasks. Is it already available?

  Avoid visible choice buttons

I have a task where participants must answer with a keypress. I don't want the choice buttons to appear on the screen. How can I do that? Huh

Lightbulb Sentence transcription study paired with images
Posted by: [email protected] - 11-02-2020, 05:28 PM - Forum: Experimental Design - Replies (1)

Hello everyone, I am trying to set up a sentence transcription in findingfive, which was implemented in E-prime in our lab for in-person testing.

In each trial of the experiment, participant will first see a picture 350ms prior to the sentence onset, and the picture remains on the screen for the length of the sentence. One image per sentence. After the image/sentence presentation, both image and sentence will disappear and participant sees a blank screen in which they transcribe the sentence they just heard (not timed). There are about 123 trials total in this experiment.

I am hoping to get more insight on what would be the best ways to send up trial templates and procedure. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you so much!

Conditional branching with one branch terminating the experiment
Posted by: jwright8 - 10-30-2020, 05:59 PM - Forum: Experimental Design - Replies (2)

I have seen the instructions for and demos/examples of conditional branching. However, these all seem to have the participants continue after the branching at the same point in the study, meaning that all participants will work through the rest of the study until the end. I need to check to see if my participants are using appropriate equipment. If they are not, I need one branch to end the study so that they do not continue through the study with equipment that will nullify their data. Is it possible to do that? If so, how?

  2x2 grid layout feature
Posted by: jwright8 - 10-30-2020, 04:39 PM - Forum: Experimental Design - Replies (10)

Recently I discussed with FindingFive the possibility of using a 2x2 grid for responses in an incidental learning paradigm. This would enable mouse tracking across four quadrants of the screen, which would also permit a confusion matrix analysis. FindingFive added this possibility via "layout": [2,2]. In that discussion there was a mention of a demo containing this feature. Can you share that demo with us? Thank you.

FAQ #5 - Allow Past Dropouts of a Study to Retry
Posted by: Rachel - Participant Affairs - 10-26-2020, 01:42 PM - Forum: Study Grammar & Management - Replies (2)

FindingFive doesn’t allow people to retry a study, but in some cases, participants need to be able to re-take a study even if they had a hiccup or quit half way the first time (e.g., if participating for course credit). How can researchers set up another session so that these participants can retake the study?
