text response submit button - catherct - 11-20-2021

Hi community!  Tongue

I'm trying to key map the Submit button for text responses similarly to how I would key map the continue_button property on basic trial templates. I looked through the response study grammar, and it doesn't seem like we're able to edit the Submit button yet as it's not recognized as a property. I was wondering if we'll be able to do this in the future??...

Or (and this is probably just me being hopeful) if anyone has found a work-around for this?

Thanks in advance!

Hi! Thanks for using FindingFive! And yes, regrettably there's no way to map a key to the submit button of a text response. This is a somewhat intentional design, because we don't want participants to accidentally submit their responses while typing their answer. So mapping it to a [bold]single key[/bold] is probably not a design choice we would ever make.

However, would a combination key like Ctrl + Enter work for your experiment? Or does it defeat the purpose of what you want to do?
